Madison Street Infrastructure Improvements: Construction and Traffic Management Activities Week of September 15, 2025
Madison Street Infrastructure Improvements
The Madison Street Area Infrastructure Improvements project has been undertaken to mitigate localized flooding from rain events. To accomplish this, the project scope includes replacing existing inlets and sewer lines as well as elevating roadways, curbs, and sidewalks within the area. Ultimately, these improvements will alleviate the primary concerns by conveying the stormwater into the sewer system.
The following work and traffic management activities are anticipated for Monday, Sept 15th through Friday, Sept 19th between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.:
Work Activities:
Madison Street between 9th and 10th Street
Install tree pit curb & guards on west side.
9th Street between Monroe Street and Madison Street
Demo existing concrete sidewalk on north side.
Install concrete curb and sidewalk on north side.
Install PSEG light pole bases and electrical conduit on north side.
9th Street and Madison Street Intersection.
Install inlets #4 & #2 and connect to inlet #6.
Shop-Rite Driveway @ intersection of 10th & Madison.
Install inlet #13
10th Street between Madison Street and Jefferson Street
Install inlets #14 & 16
Traffic Management:
9th Street between Madison Street and Monroe Street will be closed during the work hours of 9AM-4PM.
Madison Street between 8th and 10th Street will be closed on Wednesday, September 17th during the work hours of 9AM-4PM.
10th Street between Madison and Jefferson Street will be tentatively closed on Thursday, September 18th during the works hours of 8AM-4PM.
Parking spaces will be available on East side of Madison St between 10th and 11th.
Access will be maintained for 915 and 901 Madison Street garages from 10th Street on Wednesday, September 17th.
No-Parking on Madison St between 10th and 11th Street on West Side.
HPD will be on-site to assist with traffic management during construction.
