NHSA H6/H7 Hoboken Phase 3 Construction and Traffic Management Activities: September 15th – September 19th, 2025

Project Overview
The goal of the project is to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO’s) and improve the water quality of the Hudson River. As part of the project, new storm sewer lines and curb inlets will be installed which will alleviate drainage and potential flooding issues in the northern H6 and H7 drainage basins in Hoboken.

Key Phases & Timeline

  • Monday, September 15th to Friday, September 19th, 2025

Construction Activities:

Pipeline Crew #1:

  • Grand Street between 13th Street and 14th Street (Monday, September 15 to Friday, September 19, 2025)

    • Installation of piles, pile caps, and pipe cradles

    • Installation of 36" Storm pipe

    • Installation of manholes

    • Installation of catch basin inlets

    • Installation of 8" water main valve (work to be performed upon City of Hoboken's approval to resume water main connections)

Pipeline Crew #2:

  • 14th Street between Grand Street and Clinton Street (Monday, September 15 to Friday, September 19, 2025)

    • Relocation of 8" water main (pipe to be dry laid, no connections will be made to the existing water main system until City of Hoboken allows water main connections)

Alternate Work Crew #2:

  • Madison Street between 13th Street and 14th Street (TBD) 

    • Sidewalk and Curb restoration

Alternate Work Crew #3:

  • Jefferson Street and 14th Street Intersection (TBD) 

    • Sidewalk and Curb restoration

Traffic Management:

  • Grand Street between 13th and 14th Street

    • Road to be closed during working hours (8 am to 6 pm)

    • Roadway changed to 2-Way traffic (north and south) to allow access to resident garages.

    Grand Street between 14th and 15th Street

    • Road to be closed 24 hours, 7 days/week; open to local traffic only 

    • Access to resident garages will be available during working hours and non-working hours.

    14th Street between Grand Street and Clinton Street

    • Road to be closed 24 hours, 7 days/week

    Temporary Parking Impacts:

    Grand Street between 13th and 14th Street

    • Temporary no parking both sides of the street (24 hours, 7 days/week)

    • Access to resident garages will be available during working hours and non-working hours.

    13th Street between Adams Street and Clinton Street

    • Temporary no parking both sides of the street (Monday - Friday, 6 am to 6 pm)

    Clinton Street between 14th Street and 15th Street

    • Temporary no parking East side of Clinton Street only (Monday - Friday, 6 am to 6 pm)
