NHSA Hosts Hoboken Councilmembers for Facility Briefing and Tour
The North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA) was pleased to welcome Hoboken At‑Large Councilwoman Caitlin Layson, Sixth Ward Councilwoman Diane Imus, and At‑Large Councilman Steve Firestone for a comprehensive briefing and guided tour of our Adams Street Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The visit began with a discussion led by Executive Director Richard Wolff, who provided an overview of NHSA’s history, mission, and the essential services we provide to the community. His remarks highlighted the Authority’s evolution, its role in protecting public health and the environment, and its continued investment in long‑term infrastructure resilience.
Chief Engineer Don Conger then provided a detailed update on NHSA’s current and upcoming capital improvement projects, including infrastructure upgrades, system enhancements, and strategic initiatives designed to strengthen service reliability across our region. He also outlined the financial planning and operational coordination required to successfully advance these projects.
Also in attendance from NHSA were Omar Vicioso, Director of Communications and Chief of Staff, and Mark Berube, Project Manager, who supported the briefing and tour logistics and contributed to discussions on operations and project management efforts.
Following the discussion, the councilmembers toured key areas of the facility, including the Operations Control Room and Laboratory, where staff demonstrated how treatment processes are monitored and managed around the clock.
The visit concluded with an outdoor walkthrough of the plant grounds, offering a closer look at the various stages of wastewater treatment and ongoing infrastructure improvements.
NHSA appreciates the councilmembers’ engagement and interest in learning more about our history, operations, and long‑term planning efforts. We look forward to continued collaboration in service to our communities.
