Madison Street Infrastructure Improvements

The Madison Street Area Infrastructure Improvements project has been undertaken to mitigate localized flooding from rain events. To accomplish this, the project scope includes replacing existing inlets and sewer lines as well as elevating roadways, curbs, and sidewalks within the area. Ultimately, these improvements will alleviate the primary concerns by conveying the stormwater into the sewer system.

The following work and traffic management activities are anticipated for Monday, Sept 22nd through Friday, Sept 26th between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.:

Work Activities:

  • 9th St between Monroe St and Madison St

    • Demo existing sidewalk on north side.

    • Install curbs and sidewalk on north side.

    • Install PSEG light pole bases and conduits on north side. 

    • Switch pedestrian traffic from south side to north side.

    • Demo existing sidewalk and curb on south Side. 

    • Install curbs and sidewalk on south side. 

    • Install PSEG light pole bases and conduits on south side. 

  • 11th St and Madison St Intersection. 

    • Install inlets #20 and #21 at 11th and Madison St Intersection.  

  • 9th St and Jefferson St. 

    • Install inlets #25, #26 and #27.

    • Connect inlet #27 to the existing manhole at Jefferson St.

Traffic Management:

  • 9th St between Madison St and Monroe St will be closed during work hours. 

  • Parking spaces will be available on East side of Madison St between 10th and 11th.

  • 50% Parking available on Madison St between 10th and 11th Street on  West side.

  • HPD will be on-site to assist with traffic management during construction.
