The North Hudson Sewerage Authority congratulates Shelly Witham, Environmental Science teacher at High Tech High School (Hudson County Schools of Technology), on being named the 2026-2027 Hudson County Teacher of the Year.
Every year, Shelly brings her students to NHSA for a tour of our treatment plant. Our team walks them through each stage of treatment, following wastewater from Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken and West New York until it is clean enough to return to the Hudson River. Along the way, students meet the people who do this work and learn about careers in wastewater treatment and flood mitigation.
